Juergas-
From huelga, from holgar, from Late Latin follicare, to blow or to breathe.
Noun - juerga f. (plural juergas)
- binge; spree
- partying
In Flamenco, a party or informal jam session!
Flamenco Louisville hosts regular juergas at various locations around Louisville. Watch this website and/or sign up for our mailing list to receive your invitation.
Flamenco Louisville Juergas are an opportunity for dancers, musicians and fans to come together in a relaxed, creative setting to experience flamenco. Musicians (including singers) with a little or a lot of experience with flamenco are invited to bring their instruments and collaborate with others. Dancers are encouraged to bring their shoes and show their stuff – improvise with the musicians in the true fiesta spirit or bring your recorded music and share your newest choreography. And it wouldn’t be a juerga without the audience of flamenco lovers and those curious about flamenco. Put your hands together in rhythmic palmas or simply shout out encouragement (jaleos) to the performers.
